Japanese Cartoon and Animation or Anime

Animation is not unusual to Japan – they have the ‘anime’ or the Japanese way of saying animation. The world outside Japan regards whatever kind of animation that the country produced as anime or Japanese animation and it was originated way back in 1917. It’s that old! And we only thought it was somewhere nearer to this century we’re living in now, right? Anime is a major boomer and real big business in Japan, and it has been spreading around the world too. There are millions if not billions of anime fans around the world, and I am one of it.

With this high recognition from around the world, there’s not much difficulty in obtaining the videos as such. Distributors of anime in Japan can release anime via television broadcasts, directly to video, or theatrically, as well as online. Since it is such a good business in Japan, there are many anime production companies in Japan and it has close link relation to the manga or Japanese comic industries.

History of japanese cartoon or anime

The oldest anime which was in the 1917 was a two- minute clip of a samurai trying to test a new sword on his target, but only to suffer defeat. The first talking anime was in 1933, called Chikara to Onna no Yo no Naka (In the World of Women and Strength). It was only later in 1944, they have the first full-fledge and feature length anime film which was Momotaro’s Divine Sea Warriors. Much later in 1960s, the famous manga artist, Osamu Tezuka and later became the first animator to adapt and simplify many Disney animation-techniques to reduce costs and to limit the number of frames in productions. He intended this as a temporary measure to allow him to produce material on a tight schedule with inexperienced animation staff. Well, we all know how efficient Japanese people are when it comes to reengineering right?

Now we have lots and lots of anime available in the market. I couldn’t made my pick right and ended up buying a bunch since there’s so much to see. There are a few anime distribution companies in Japan which handled the licensing and distribution of anime beyond Japan. Without the license, you can’t aired or distribute it and if you do and caught, you could get fined or even jailed. Licensed anime are modified by distributors through dubbing into the language of the country, as well as adding language subtitles to the Japanese language track.

anime dragon ball

My favorite - Dragon Ball cartoon anime

One of the top anime of all time would probably be Dragon ball, and then you also have the Astro Boy, Pokemon, Sailormoon and even the not-so-latest craze, Naruto and One piece. There are a lot anime if you want to search for one by one. So my advice, is to choose your genre and filter those searches. Looking to watch anime online? Well, if you’re lucky you might still be able to watch some at veoh.com, watchanimeon.com for unlicensed and fan contributed anime.

If you have any good sites to watch anime, hope you don’t mind sharing some with me and everyone else!
