The Most Expensive Hello Kitty Doll in the World??

The most expensive cat in history would probably be the all time favorite character – Hello Kitty, which is adored by female especially from varying age groups. Being a little too weak to cute and cuddly things have really gotten me a little smitten with this really popular and cute cat. Anyhow, I just love and adore cats! Mieow~

Hello Kitty is a fictional character which portrays a white female cat wearing a red bow on one ear and with no drawn mouth. It was and still is produced by Sanrio, a Japanese company that made millions selling toys as such. Hello Kitty was designed by Ikuko Shimizu and introduced to the market in Japan in the year 1974. The first product was a vinyl coin purse.

Hello Kitty is celebrating their 35th anniversary this year and every five years they have this sort of extravagant celebration where they produce limited editions platinum dolls of the winsome cat’s form adorned with diamonds and all these very very expensive stones that cost millions of Japanese yen.

If you happens to be at the Girlish Culture Hello Kitty exhibition in Tokyo on the 1st October 2009, you’ll probably get the chance to see a platinum Hello Kitty doll that worth about 15 million yen (about USD 167,000). That’s like five times in price from the limited Hello Kitty doll sold in 2004 and 3 times taller. It was meant entirely for the rich collectors of course. It’s called the Super Hello Kitty Jewel Doll and studded with 1.027 carat diamond on its ribbon, 403 pink sapphires on its body, 1,939 pieces of white topaz for it’s head on a platinum 900 body, a citrine for its yellow nose and black spinels for its eyes. Nothing spells better than splurge~

It was made with cooperation between Sanrio company itself with luxury crystal maker, Swarovski and Japanese jewelry maker I.K. I wonder who actually buy this thing but it sure is sparkly. Anyway, we may not be able to enjoy a diamond studded Hello Kitty doll, but we can enjoy a paper Hello Kitty doll and toy right? You can even make it on your own – Hello Kitty Papercraft up for grabs!

Yea, I wish I could too ^^;;; I love Hello Kitty!…but it’s way toooooo expensive. Our best bet is to get the cheaper ones at participating jewellery brand names that sell Hello Kitty jewelleries such as pins and pendants with a much more affordable price.

The most expensive hello kitty doll in the world.. Tiptop :)
